Overflowing with history (Harry Vardon was the club’s first head professional), Ganton is perhaps the only inland golf course in the British Isles with the championship pedigree (it is one of only three courses to have hosted a Ryder Cup, Curtis Cup and Walker Cup) and authentic links-feel to have a shot at hosting an Open Championship. Opinion varies on how best to describe Ganton. Its most dominant personality is heathland, although in several instances it assumes the personalities of a moorland while demonstrating strong links course synergies. Eclectic bunkering and sensational use of cant and angles make it a shotmaker’s paradise.
